I love the top one most. Darning the pattern isn't the worst job, pulling the threads taut is. But it's all worth it.

Ik vind de bovenste het mooist. Het patroon rijgen is niet het ergste,  de draden strak trekken wel. Maar het is

het helemaal waard.

Today I'm showing you the fabrics I've prepaired for shibori.
They will be dyed with procion purchased from Stof tot verven.
I'm using the colors cinnaber (red), mosagaaf (blue-green) and zonnesteen (yellow).
Vandaag laat ik de stoffen zien die ik heb voorbereid voor shibori.
Ze zullen worden geverfd met procion gekocht bij Stof tot verven.
Ik gebruik de kleuren cinnaber(rood), mosagaaf(blauwgroen) en zonnesteen(geel).

The first piece is done in the karamatsu pattern and is now batching in cinnaber.
Het eerste stuk in karamatsu patroon staat nu in een cinnaber verfbad.

Above circles drawn with 2 types of watersoluble glue. Below the dye is applied with a brush. zonnesteen and cinnaber.
Boven cirkels getekend met 2 soorten wateroplosbare lijm. Onder is de verf aangebracht met een kwast. zonnesteen en cinnaber.

This pattern is called kikkõ itajime. The fabric is folded accordion wise into a long strip and then folded in a triangles. Step by step photo's below.
Dit patroon heet kikkõ itajime. De stof wordt zigzag in een lange reep gevouwen, dan in driehoeken. Stap voor stap foto's hieronder.

Pressed between 2 strips of wood. That is was itajime stands for.
Geklemd tussen 2 plankjes. Dat is wat itajime betekend.

Below a scarf I knitted for someone. The yarn is bamboo and soft like silk.

Hieronder een sjaal die ik voor iemand heb gebreid. Het garen is bamboe en zacht als zijde.

Kate is organizing another little quilt swap. I meant to participate before but life always decided different. Now I'm determined to produce at least 1 but hopefully 2 quilts. This is my transparenty study. each colored patch outlines with French knots in at least 3 colors.

Kate organiseert weer een kleine quilt ruil. Ik heb al eerder mee willen doen, maar er kwam altijd wat tussen. Nu wil ik persé iets maken, 1 maar hopelijk 2 quiltjes. Dit is mijn transparantiestudie. Elk gekleurd vlakje wordt omlijnd met knoopjessteken, in 3 kleuren.

I knitted this for Aisha. Its made of cotton.

Ik heb dit voor Aisha gebreid. Het is gemaakt van katoen.

I've started knitting the "golfbrekersjaal" Tonny pointed out the pattern to me. Its a nice pattern, easy to knit and it looks lovely. The yarn is half wool, half synthetic.

Ik ben begonnen de golfbrekersjaal te breien. Tonny heeft me op het patroon gewezen. Het is een prettig patroon, makkelijk te breien en 't ziet er leuk uit. Het garen is half wol, half synthetisch.

some pictures of my granddaughter Aisha. she's 8 weeks old now. she had doubled her weight since she was born. she's doing very well. she also keeps her parents busy at night.

een paar foto's van m'n kleindochter Aisha. ze is nu 8 weken oud. haar gewicht is inmiddels verdubbeld sinds haar geboorte. ze doet het goed. ook houdt ze haar ouders erg wakker 's nachts.

het is en blijft een wonder

Here we see Jose, my daughter, during the last week of her pregnancy. She still fits in her jeans!

Hier zien we Jose, mijn dochter, tijdens de laatste week van haar zwangerschap. Ze past nog steeds in haar spijkerbroek!

May 16, late in the evening, Aisha was born by Cesarean. She is very small but determined to get that fixed.

Op 16 mei is Aisha geboren via een keizersnee. Ze is erg klein, slechts 2080 gram en 44 cm.

Jose has a hard time staying in bed and not dashing around. Here's her nephew Thijmen, riding her around.

Jose vindt het moeilijk in bed te blijven en niet rond te lopen. Hier zorgt Thijmen, haar neef, voor vervoer.

Aisha gets a clean nappy. A job for two.

Aisha krijgt een schone luier, een klusje voor twee.

Proud dad.

Trotse papa.

alweer 3 weken oud.

I'm back

I haven't been able to log in to my blogger account for a long time.
I just got things fixed and I'm posting again.
I'm working on a temporary laptop while mine is being fixed.
I have no pictures to show yet, have to go figure that out now.
Hope to post soon, with pics and updates.
