this month's fibre page has been made by Margreet and she wrote the Haiku herself. it could be translated as:

I cannot write poems or Haiku's so I really admire anyone for doing so.

I made rubbings on beige handdyed fabric with yellow paintsticks. when dry and heatset I overlaid the fabric with organza, made a sandwich with filling and backing and stitched through, echoing the rubbed lines. then decorated with beads. 3 more cards to go.
last picture is of my tomcat Casper, sleeping as usual.

de textielpagina voor deze maand is gemaakt door Margreet. ook zij heeft de Haiku zelf geschreven. ik kan geen gedichten of Haiku's schrijven. ik heb er echt bewondering voor. de pagina is weer mooi en heel origineel. dank je wel Margreet, ik ben er heel blij mee. het gaat beslist een mooi boek worden!
volgende scan is van 2 kaarten die ik heb gemaakt voor de kaartenruil met als thema geel. ik heb rubbings gemaakt op beige stof met gele oliekrijtjes.na het fixeren heb ik er organza overheen gelegd, vulling en achterkantje eronder en vervolgens het geheel doorgestikt en versierd met kraaltjes. nu nog 3 kaarten te gaan. ik heb plezier in deze techniek én ik hou van geel.
laatste foto is van onze kater Casper, die bezig is met z'n favoriete hobby: slapen.

rubbing

This week I received a set of rubbing plates I'd ordered from Zijdelings I decided to use them for the yellow swap at the fibermail group. I used handdyed beige cotton and used a deep yellow paintstick as you can see at the top picture. Second pic shows how I put 1 layer of organza on top, stitched between the painted lines with variegated yellow/orange yarn from Madeira and added some yellow beads. I'm pondering on whether I should cut open the lines between the stitching, burn them open or leave them as is. Advice, suggestions?

Deze week kwam m'n bestelling van Zijdelings, met onder andere m'n setje rubbing plates. Aangezien we bij de Fibermail groep een ruil van gele kaarten hebben, leek me dat een goede gelegenheid om ze uit te proberen. Op de bovenste foto kun je zien dat ik voor de stof een beige handgeverfd lapje heb gebruikt en een afbeelding heb gemaakt met een donkergele paintstick. Tweede foto laat het vervolg zien. Ik heb een laagje organza over de afbeelding gelegd en het geheel doorgestikt met gemeleerd oranje/geel garen van Madeira. Vervolgens gele kraaltjes opgenaaid. Nu twijfel ik of ik de lijnen tussen de stiksels zal openknippen, openbranden/smelten of ze zo zal laten. Advies, suggesties?

this is what I've been doing the past few days. I wanted to knit cables and I'd found this lovely yarn for it. I think this looks perfect for it. today I received this lovely owl from Marijke. its a card in the green swap at the fibermail group. I'll be sending 2 green cards. see last picture. they'll go out tomorrow.

bovenaan zie je m'n breiwerk. het is nog niet klaar. ik wilde iets met kabels breien en ik vond het perfecte garen erbij. net pitjeskatoen. dit stuk heb ik in 2 avonden gebreid. de kaart met de uil heb ik van Marijke gekregen. wat is ie mooi he? het is een kaart voor de groene swap van fibermail. hieronder de twee kaarten die ik voor deze swap heb gemaakt.

3 cq rr's are starting and these are the blocks I made for them. the first block is for the landscape rr. the foliage of the tree can be removed if one of the ladies in this rr has a better plan for the tree.
second picture shows the naked block for the spiders and webs II rr.
third picture shows the autumn rr block. (I'm hoping for toadstools) and picture no 4 shows a tatted edging and a silkie that I'll be sending with the autumn block to be used by one of the ladies stitching in this rr. the silkie was given to me quite some time ago and I kept it for the right opportunity as I find the pic gorgeous.

3 cq rr's gaan beginnen en dit zijn de blokken die ik daarvoor heb gemaakt. de eerste foto is van mijn blok voor de landschap rr. de bladeren van de book zijn alleen opgeregen en kunnen zo verwijderd worden indien gewenst. blok 2 is voor de spinnen en webben rr. het derde blok is voor de herfst rr met in foto 4 een gefrivolitéd randje en een silkie die hopelijk in het herfst blok verwerkt gaan worden. de silkie heb ik een keer gekregen en ik vind 'm prachtig. ik hoop echt dat iemand 'm in het blok gaat verwerken.

these are 2 samples I knitted for a piece I want to knit. I want to put together a pattern with all sorts of cable patterns. I really enjoy knitting cables.
dit zijn twee proeflapjes die ik heb gebreid voor iets dat ik wil breien. ik wil het geheel samenstellen uit verschillende kabels. het is echt leuk om kabels te breien.

Cathy has sent me this vintage hankie. I admired a crocheted butterfly and was looking for a pattern or a good close up picture so that I could copy the butterfly. So she send me this one. This is so sweet of you Cathy and I hope to crochet this beauty soon. Thank you.

De eerste twee afbeeldingen zijn van een textielpagina die ik van Barbara heb ontvangen. Dit is de eerste pagina die ik via de ruil van Fiber Fever ontving en wat een geweldige start! de vertaling van de Haiku:

Het prachtige groene zakdoekje heb ik van Cathy gekregen. Ik bewonderde een afbeelding van een gehaakte vlinder en zocht naar een patroon of duidelijke foto zodat ik de vlinder ook zou kunnen haken. Cathy was zo lief deze aan mij de geven. Dank je wel Cathy, ik ben er erg blij mee en hoop binnenkort deze vlinder ook te haken. Als laatste een foto van het mooie cq hart dat ik heb ontvangen van Faye Dianne in Australie. Mijn hart voor haar gaat binnenkort op de post.

this appears to be a green month. I have to make a fabric page for Helinä with trees/forest as a theme. the page is finished but I cannot show it before Helinä has received it. I will send it off halfway next mont. For Mariet I have to make a landscape, AA size. I don´t think she reads my blog so I´m showing it here. Furtheron I´m going to swap 2 fibermails, theme is green. Since my friend Tonny is struck with the flu I made her a get well card, pic below. I´m using Valerie Hearder´s landscape book as a guide.


Dit lijkt een hele groene maand te worden. Voor Helina heb ik een textielpagina gemaakt met thema bomen-bos. ik kan ´m nog niet laten zien omdat Helinà ´m pas volgende maand krijgt en het moet een verrassing blijven. Voor Mariet heb ik een AA gemaakt van een landschapje, dat was het thema dat zij had gekozen. Zie bovenste plaatje. de fibermail groep doet een ruil van kaarten met het thema groen. Ik ga er 2 maken. Ik heb alvast een kaart klaar (onderste foto), die gaat naar Tonny die met griep in bed ligt. Als inspiratie voor de landschapjes gebruik ik Valerie Hearder´s boek.

Ati started this wonderful group where we exchange fabric pages. Each month we make one and receive on. For my pages I chose the Haiku as a theme. Here you see the page I received from Ati. Her sil Tiny wrote the Haiku. This could be the translation:

Ati is dit jaar een nieuwe groep begonnen waar we textiel pagina's uitwisselen. Iedere maand maken en ontvangen we er een. Ik heb voor mijn pagina's voor de Haiku gekozen als thema. Hier zie je de pagina die ik heb ontvangen van Ati deze maand. De Haiku is geschreven door haar schoonzuster Tiny:

tentoonstelling van dagboekquiltjes

dit is een tentoonstelling die je beslist moet gaan zien. zeer de moeite waard. op zondag zijn er demonstraties.
als je met openbaar vervoer komt, neem dan bus 13 vanaf het station richting Leiderdorp. uitstappen net voorbij de AH, hoek Hooigracht/Ir. Driessenstraat.
ik woon in Leiden en voel me dus erg verwend met zo'n mooie tentoonstelling zo lekker dichtbij. ik ga beslist kijken!

this is an exhibition of diary quilts in A4 size. this is very worthwhile seeing. Sunday's they have demonstrations. bus 13 drives closely past this exhibition. if you have the opportunity, go see it. you'll love it.

AA for Rie

This is a tiny quilt made for Rie. she wanted a 15 x 20 cm (6"x8") quiltlet in blue/teal with a poem at the back. Its not really my favorite color and I've added some silver and white. I hope she likes it anyway. translation of the poem:
light as foam
of blue morning mist
this earth in dew.

Dit is een quiltje voor Rie. ze vroeg om een AA (15 x 20 cm) in blauw/blauwgroen met een gedicht op de achterkant. Het is niet mijn favoriete kleur. Ik heb ook zilver en wit gebruikt. Ik hoop dat ze het evengoed mooi vindt. Het gedichtje is een Haiku.

my stole from Haapsalu

I have finished knitting my lace stole. This is a Estonian pattern, from Haapsalu, to be more precise. I have really enjoyed knitting this stole. Since the pattern was meant for a small stole and I like them big, I didn't use the indicated lace type of yarn but a nice variegated mohair. I initially chose another color but my daughter talked me into this one because it is more my type of color. She was right, I never regretted the choice, it looks wonderfull.

I've also added a pic of my two cats, Casper and Minoes. Casper put his paw around Minoes' her neck and she put her head on top of his. They fight a lot but in the end cuddle up together to sleep.

Ik heb m'n kantgebreide stola af. Het patroon komt uit Estland, uit Haapsalu. Het was een prettig patroon om te breien. Omdat dit een patroon voor een vrij kleine stola was heb ik niet het originele kantgaren gebruikt maar een mooie gemeleerde mohair. Ik had eigenlijk een andere kleur uitgekozen, maar m'n dochter heeft me overtuigd om deze te nemen omdat dit meer mijn type kleur is. En ze had gelijk. Ik heb geen moment spijt gehad van deze keuze. Het resultaat ziet er zo mooi uit.

Ik heb ook nog een foto erbij gezet van m'n twee katten, Casper en Minoes. Cas heeft hier z'n poot om de hals van Noes geslagen en Noes ligt met haar kopje op zijn kop te slapen. Ze vechten veel maar daarna kruipen ze samen in een stoel en slapen tegen elkaar aan. 

its been a long time

At our fibermail group we are doing a swap of square cards with stitchery as technique. I really, really enjoyed this. With the gorgeous variegated yarns DMC offers the work looks so neat. I still had to finish one AA (album amicorum) from last year's swap and I made this one in the same technique as I just couldn't stop after my 2 cards. This aa will go to Trees. Don't know yet where the fibercards will go.

Onze fibermail groep heeft een ruil van vierkante kaarten in borduurwerk. Ik vind dit echt zo'n leuke techniek. Dankzij de mooie gemeleerde garens van DMC ziet het resultaat er geweldig
uit. Omdat ik nog steeds een AA (album amicorum) moest maken voor de ruil van vorig jaar ben ik lekker doorgegaan met deze techniek, want ik had de smaak te pakken. Deze aa gaat naar Trees. Ik weet nog niet naar wie ik de kaarten moet sturen.

herfstwandeling

Its autumn!! Toadstool time. I love going to the woods, most of all in autumn because of all the lovely toadstools. My nichname means toadstoolcrazy and I went crazy on my last 2 walks. The first pic is of this fungus with a strange purple like color. Still need to look up the name.
Second pic is of the bark of a tree covered with tiny orange fungi and lichen. The third and fourth pic are of the same type of toadstool, one fullgrown, the other with the hoods still curved. The hood of this toadstool can be bigger than your hand when fullgrown.
The fifth pic is of a small toadstool that grows in big groups. You can see all my pics from my two walks here.

Het is herfst, paddestoelentijd!! Ik vind het heerlijk om in het bos te wandelen. Ik ben in Meijendel/Wassenaar en Groenendaal/Heemstede geweest. Je kunt wel zien waar m'n bijnaam paddestoelengek vandaan komt. De eerste foto is van een korstzwam met een vreemd paarsig kleurtje. De tweede foto is van boomschors begroeid met roestkleurig zwammetjes en zilverkleurig korstmos. Foto 3 en 4 zijn van parasolzwammen. De eerst is een volwassen exemplaar met uitgespreide hoed. Het groepje parasolzwammen is nog jong en de hoeden zijn nog klokvormig. Als laatste gele bundelzwammetjes. Deze groeiden in een hele grote groep, de foto laat slechts een klein deel daarvan zien. scrumbling handbags

I decided to make this little handbag to go with the stole I blogged about some time ago. Its a gift. I used mainly the same yarns as I used for the stole. I decorated the flap with silk ivy leaves, big and small beads, trimmed the edge with beads and lined the whole with denim. The handle is braided from yarns used for the knitting.

Ik had besloten dat er een tasje bij de stola moest komen waarover ik enige tijd geleden heb geschreven. Het is een kadootje. Ik heb zo'n beetje dezelfde garens gebruikt als in de stola. Op de flap heb ik namaak klimop blaadjes genaaid, alsmede grote en kleine kralen en langs de rand zit ook een randje kralen. Het tasje is gevoerd met denim en het hengsel is gevlochten van garens die gebruikt zijn voor het breien van het tasje.

This is a handbag I knitted for myself. Its a log cabin knitted from various yarns. At the front I knitted a triangular flap, which I decorated with a crocheted flower and silk ivy leaves, various beads for the center of the flower and a butterfly sequin. The handle is made from a necklace that was given to me. The bag is lined with matching fabric and it contains lots of pockets, even one made fit for my cell phone.

Dit is een handtasje dat ik voor mezelf heb gebreid, het is een log cabin gebreid van vele soorten garens. De flap is in een punt gebreid en versierd met een gehaakte bloem, die is vastgezet met kralen in het hart, namaak klimop blaadjes en een vlindertje op de bloem. Het hengsel is gemaakt van een gekregen ketting. Het tasje is gevoerd met een bijpassende stof en heeft een heleboel vakjes, inclusief eentje op maat gemaakt voor m'n mobieltje.

workshop Dijanne Cevaal

Dijanne came to our art quilt group to give 2 workshops. We had to bring a simple picture that we would make into fabric. Here are 2 photo's of pics I brought and how I started them in fabric. We had to bring our sewing machine, unfortunatally I forgot to bring the pedal so I couldn't do any sewing after all.
I hope to do that soon. The next 3 pictures show work done by Dijanne. I love her style, her use of colors and adore her energy. She is very inspiring. For more pictures of this fun day click here.






Dijanne kwam naar onze art quilt group Tegendraads om 2 workshops te geven. We moesten een eenvoudige foto meebrengen, die we gingen uitwerken in stof. Ik heb hier twee afbeeldingen van een foto met daarnaast de opzet in stof. Omdat ik wel m'n naaimachine had meegebracht, maar niet het pedaal, kon ik niet aan het stikken. Ik hoop dat binnenkort te gaan doen.
De volgende 3 foto's zijn werk van Dijanne. Ik houd erg van haar stijl en kleurgebruik en ik bewonder haar energie. Ze is heel inspirerend. Voor meer foto's van deze leuke dag, klik hier.
