Suse's cottage garden block

I have finished stitching on Suse's country garden block. I love the colors of this block, it's fantastic to work on. 

Ik ben klaar met mijn bijdrage aan Suse's country garden blok. Ik vind kleuren van dit blok prachtig, dat maakt het heerlijk om aan te werken.

Pam's Woodland and Forest RR block

This is what the block looks like after Tammie and I worked on it.

I have added the seam treatments, SRE honeysuckle, fern and peacock.

Dit is het blok van Pam nadat Tammie en ik er aan gewerkt hebben. Ik heb een aantal naden geborduurd, de varen, kamperfoelie en als laatste de pauw toegevoegd.

The fern is done in double cast-on stitch. The young leaves are done in whipped chain stitch. I've used perlé yarn.

Ik heb de varen geborduurd in een dubbele cast-on steek, dat kan vertaald worden in opzetsteek. De jonge gekrulde bladeren zijn gedaan in omgeslingerde kettingsteek.

No forest without honeysuckle. I love its sweet scent. Done with silk ribbon and leaves are done in fly-stitch.

Geen bos zonder kamperfoelie, die heerlijke zoete geur. Geborduurd met zijdelint en de bladeren zijn geborduurd in de vliegsteek.

Peacock dyed in blue and purple only. The teal blue and peacock green wouldn't have matched with this block. Lots of facetted lilac beads in the tail.

Pauw geverfd in blauw en paars. De turkoois en pauwgroen van de echte pauw zouden niet harmoniëren met dit blok. De staart is versierd met facetkralen.

Lauri's fantasy block

This is Lauri's fantasy block. When I received it, it had 2 beautifull dragons on it. Since fantasy is more that dragons I wanted to add something different. Problem was that I just didn't know whát. When I got my hands on the lace peacock I know this would be fit the theme and when painted in peacock colors it would complement the block colors. I used deka silk to paint the bird and stitched it down with monofill. I wanted the peacock to stand underneath a bow of wisteria and with its feet in a bush of hydrangea. I made the stem for the wisteria from 6 pieces of wire that I twisted 2 at a time. then I twisted the 3 twisted pieces around each other, making the stem. when it had the right height I made bows in the
branches and bend them in a bow over the peacock. I took the ends of the wire to the back of the fabric and tacked down the ends. I wrapped the wire with variegated floss and every inch or so attached it to the fabric. next were the flowerheards for the hydrangea. I drew circles onto hand dyed fabric and filled the circles with French knots in variegated thread. basted around the embroidery and cut out with a small seam allowence. appliqued the flowerheads in place. I made the stumpwork flowers of the hydrangea and the flowers and leaves of the wisteria according to a pattern in one of Di van Niekerk books.
I decided to fill the open space around the peacock according to instructions by Ann Cox. I finished the whole by adding silk ribbon detached chain stitched for leaves for the hydrangea.
Dit is Lauri's fantasy blok. Er stonden al twee draken op toen ik het blok ontving en aangezien fantasy meer is dan draken, wilde ik iets heel anders maken. Alleen had ik geen idee wát. Toen ik m'n pakketje met kant kreeg en er een kanten pauw in vond wist ik dat dat het zou worden. De kleuren van een pauw zouden goed bij het blok passen. Ik heb de pauw geverfd met deka silk en opgenaaid met monofil, een 'onzichtbaar' naaigaren. Een ramp om met de hand te gebruiken! Maar de pauw is onzichtbaar bevestigd en daar ging het om. Vervolgens heb ik cirkels getekend op handgeverfde stof en die cirkels heb ik opgevuld met knoopjessteken van gemeleerd garen. vervolgens heb ik om het borduurwerk heen geregen en de rondjes met een kleine naadtoeslag uitgeknipt. door het rijgdraadje aan te trekken vouwt het onder het borduurwerk en kun je ze appliceren.
De stam van de blauwe regen is gemaakt van metaaldraad. ik heb 6 stukjes geknipt en die twee aan twee in elkaar gedraaid. Die 3 setjes heb ik weer in elkaar gedraaid tot een stammetje en ter hoogte van de boog heb ik ze losjes in en uit elkaar laten gaan, zodat je afzonderlijke takken ziet. Toen heb ik de bloemen en bladeren van de blauwe regen geborduurd volgens aanwijzingen in een boek van Di van Niekerk. Het idee van de stumpwork hortensia is ook van haar. De ruimte tussen de boog en pauw heb ik opgevuld met stokrozen, geborduurd naar aanwijzingen van Ann Cox. Tussen de hortensia bloemen heb ik bladeren van zijde lint in ketting steek geborduurd. Verder heb ik het vogeltje helemaal rechts toegevoegd en het ronde kraaltje met motief tussen de pauw en de draak applicatie.

fans for Leslie

This is a dyb rr with fans as theme. I've just finished working on Leslie's block. The two ladies before me both added a silky, so I had to add a silky as well or this block would be out of tune. Gerry sent me the silky and its so pretty I'd rather keep it myself. Well, here it is, I stitched it down using sweetheart roses and detached chains for leaves. I dyed the lace for the peach colored fan in the top left corner. I added metallic thread to the dragonfly that's woven into the fabric. its so pretty, I didn't want to add any more to it. I crocheted two fans, made them quite different and embellished them with beads. the bigger beads on the ecru fan are pnk craquelé. I used pearl beads for the pink fan.

Gerry sent me the white cord which I used to outline the lilac fan, added a row of perl colored beads inside the cord line. outside the lace I added iridiscent faceted lilac beads, but they are rather transparent. then I filled the fan with sweetheart roses and dmc variegated floss.

The damselfly is made from Gütermann Sulky metallic thread. the wings are detached buttonholestitches. I used a pattern from Jane Nicholas wonderfull dragonfly book.

Dit is Leslie's rr blok met waaier thema. Het is een klein blokje van 15 bij 15 en het moet helemaal versierd worden. omdat de twee dames voor mij ieder een zijdeprentje met een dame hadden geappliceerd, moest ik dat ook wel doen om de eenheid in de blokken te bewaren. ik heb met zijdeling roosjes en blaadjes de rand weggewerkt. voor de waaier linksboven heb ik het kantje geverfd zodat het beter bij het blok paste. de roze en ecru waaiers heb ik gehaakt en vastgezet met kraaltjes.

hier is een close up van de roosjes en blaadjes van zijdelint. de waterjuffer is gemaakt naar een patroon uit het libellenboek van Jane Nicholas. zij maakt prachtige stumpwork ontwerpen. ik voor het borduurwerk naaimachine garen gebruikt: Gütermann Sulky metallic. niet lekker om mee te werken, maar het resultaat is wel echt. de vleugels zijn gemaakt van naaldkant: knoopsgatensteekjes.

second heart

Today I finished my second heart. Again soft colors, this time I added sweetheart roses.
Vandaag heb ik m'n tweede hart afgemaakt. Weer zachte kleuren en deze keer met zijden roosjes.
