Here theme is doors. After some research I found that there is a door typical for the Netherlands. Its even called Dutch door. At the bottom of this post you can see some pictures or traditional Dutch doors or double doors as we call them. It was quite a puzzle to make the door like this, the top part can be opened and looked through. These doors were always painted in a very bright green. To make this page I used hand dyed cotton for the door and snow dyed wow fabric for the window. I embroidered Wisteria and at the bottom right I made stumpwork Hydrangea flowerheads onto unspun dyed silk.
Ik lees net dat Liz mijn pagina voor haar heeft ontvangen. Ze had 'm al in februari moeten hebben, ik loop wat achter. Haar thema is deuren. Ik ontdekte dat de dubbele deur typisch Nederlands is dus die wilde ik maken. Het was nog best een puzzel om de deur zó te maken dat de bovendeur open en dicht kan. Ik heb op internet foto's gezocht van originele dubbele deuren, daar heb ik wat plaatjes van onderaan deze post gezet. Deze deuren waren gewoonlijk in een hardgroene kleur geverfd. Ik heb daarvoor van m'n handgeverfde stof gebruikt en voor het bovenlicht heb ik een stukje sneeuwgeverfde katoen met witte opdruk gebruikt. Ik heb verder een blauwe regen geborduurd en rechtsonder een hortensia met bloemhoofden in stumpwork op ongesponnen geverfde zijde.

When I was m,a child my parents.made the door going to the the steps going down stairs into a Dutch or double door. That way they could let the air from the back door in and us kids could not fall down the steps.
