I'm a Dutch girl who's into art and crazy quilting. I love to dye my fabric and tat and crochet motifs. I also crochet and knit stoles and tea cosies, plus I'm wandering off into lace knitting. I love to grow plants in the windowsil, on my balcony and in my needlework. Recently I've started felting and eco-dyeing. Minoes my sweet kitty assists me with all my adventures. I have a wonderful daughter, son-in-law and grand daughter.

This is a dyb rr with fans as theme. I've just finished working on Leslie's block. The two ladies before me both added a silky, so I had to add a silky as well or this block would be out of tune. Gerry sent me the silky and its so pretty I'd rather keep it myself. Well, here it is, I stitched it down using sweetheart roses and detached chains for leaves. I dyed the lace for the peach colored fan in the top left corner. I added metallic thread to the dragonfly that's woven into the fabric. its so pretty, I didn't want to add any more to it. I crocheted two fans, made them quite different and embellished them with beads. the bigger beads on the ecru fan are pnk craquelé. I used pearl beads for the pink fan.
Gerry sent me the white cord which I used to outline the lilac fan, added a row of perl colored beads inside the cord line. outside the lace I added iridiscent faceted lilac beads, but they are rather transparent. then I filled the fan with sweetheart roses and dmc variegated floss. The damselfly is made from Gütermann Sulky metallic thread. the wings are detached buttonholestitches. I used a pattern from Jane Nicholas wonderfull dragonfly book.
OnThurday Ineke Berlyn came to our bee Tegendraads to give us a workshop. she taught us to make a landscape using Lutrador. each of us brought a picture of the landscape we wanted to make. we started by spraying paint onto the background. me painted an extra piece of Lutrador for appliqué to make details with. when my background piece was dry I added more purple to the bottom half by applying paintstick with a toothbrush over a template of torn paper. Then I started cutting trees from black and brown organza that I'd ironed onto vlisofix. After I fused those to the background I added some more trees and started cutting some for the foreground for which I'd painted Lutrador with a mixture of black and dark brown. Since these are less transparent, they look better on the forground. When those were fused on I started stitching the piece. This is how far I got. I have lots more stitching to do and then I will add bright green and yellowish green for the fresh new leaves on the trees and at bottom I want to add purple for the wild hyacinth's.
