restverwerking en vergeet-mij-nietjes

Marci's forget-me-not dyb rr block.
Marci's vergeet-me-niet blok.

this is the first step of my work on this block. I got out my herbal and drew a nice forget me not. It doesn't show in the silky but forget me nots usually have those flower sprees in a spiral. I love that. So that's what I created. At first I meant to embroider the flowers but looking at my little box with beads I thought they would look lovely as flowers. Forget me nots have 5 petals and I feared I wouldn't be able to get 5 of them in a circle but to my surprise it takes exactly 5 to make a neat circle. I had this flower lace that I painted blue and after drying I cut the flowers apart and sewed them down around the silky. Each with a yellow bead in the center. I also painted a small lace heart in blue and green and then dropped it into my gas heather. No matter what I tried, I couldn't get it back, I actually managed to push it underneath the whole thing. In order to get it back I'll have to remove the gas heather. It can do no harm where it is now so I'll leave it. for the bottom of the silky I painted to lace leaves green and stitched them on as a base for the bow of flowers.

I love to keep left over fabric strips, select matching colors and sew them together. I think it looks best when the strips have irregular widths. I sew them down by hand onto a base fabric. I use these composed pieces of fabric as the base for fiber cards, fiber pages or AAs. For these 2 pieces I selected yellow and pale brown strips, the top piece has screenprints and a kokopelli and flower stamp on it. The bottom piece got 2 screenprints, a fly fungus stamp (cut by me) and a cat applied with a stencil.

Hi, my sister (Princess Bubbles) directed me to your blog because she knows I like the flower fairies. You called yours "silkies". Where did you find them? I bought some cotton ones from Dicraft in South Africa but silks would be nice. I like what you do with graduated sizes of beads in an interesting line. Nice!
