verrassingslapjes van Mia en Tonny

This is how I received Mia's fabric. It had been dyed in the shibori technique. I decided to overdye it, also in shibori. In an earlier post you can see how I tied it up. I let it soak in SA solution and applied dark blue procion dye stock with a brush, covering all exposed fabric. I rolled it into plastic and let it batch all day and rinsed it in the evening.
Today I screenprinted the grasses on, using Trapsuutjies paint in the color clay. Screenprint by Ineke Berlyn. After heat setting I will send this fabric on for the next one to work on it.
Hier kun je zien hoe ik de stof van Mia heb gekregen. Het was geverfd in shibori techniek. Ik besloot dit over te verven, ook in shibori. In een eerder bericht kun je lezen hoe ik het heb opgebonden. Daarna heb ik het laten weken in soda oplossing en heb donkerblauwe procion verfoplossing met de kwast op de hele buitenkant aangebracht. Vervolgens heb ik het geheel in plastik gerold en de hele dag laten inwerken. 's Avonds heb ik 't gespoeld. Vandaag heb ik zeefdrukken van grassen op de stof gemaakt. Ik heb een sjabloon van Ineke Berlyn gebruikt en verf in de kleur clay van Trapsuutjies. Als de verf droog en gefixeerd is kan de lap naar de volgende gestuurd.

de kleur van deze foto klopt niet. de achtergrond is groener met blauw en de grassen zijn een helderder bruin.

once again I sewed left over strips of fabric together. I wanted to make a foil on motif on Tonny's fabric and did a try out on this assembled fabric first. I made some mistakes and very little foil ended on the fabric. I filled it up with pearl paint of the same color. I think I can make this into an AA.

ik heb nog maar eens resten stroken stof aan elkaar genaaid. ik wilde een foil motief op Tonny's lapje maken en heb dit lapje als proefje gebruikt. ik heb een paar fouten gemaakt waardoor er weinig folie op de stof terecht kwam. ik heb het motief aangevuld met parelmoer verf in de zelfde kleur. wie weet kan ik hier nog eens een leuke aa van maken.

Here's Tonny's piece. she sent the red fabric and the black square with stitchings to Trees. Trees added the pink and black strip of fabric and then put Tonny's square in a cut out part of the fabric. I totally love the way this piece is going. I first sewed shiny lilac sequins around the edge of the cut-out. I just noticed on the photo below that I forgot 1 sequin, I'll fix that after I finish this post. next I made a motif in teal foil. I know Tonny loves this color and it brings back a bit of bright color that's in the yarns used to embellish the black square. its almost ready to be sent on.

Hier is Tonny's lapje. zij stuurde de donkerrode lap en het zwarte doorgestikte blok naar Trees. Die heeft een roze en zwarte vertikale baan in de lap gezet, een vierkant eruit gehaald en daar Tonny's zwarte blok ingezet. Ik vind dit werkstuk nu al schitterend. Ik heb rondom de opening in de stof glanzend lila lovertjes genaaid. Ik zag net op de foto dat ik er eentje ben vergeten, die zal ik straks nog opnaaien. vervolgens heb ik het motief in blauwgroene foil gemaakt. gelukkig is het deze keer wel goed gegaan. ik weet dat Tonny van deze kleur houdt en het brengt wat fellere kleur in het geheel, wat ook in de garens zit waarmee het zwarte blok is doorgestikt. het is nu bijna klaar om weer doorgestuurd te worden.
